ZombieGirl Bio:
Experienced Canadian artist and designer Renee Cooper-Komor is the voice, body and spirit behind the ZOMBIE GIRL concept. Her mystical magnetism quickly attracted Sebastian R. Komor away from his natal Norway into her graveyard and took her no time at all to mutate him into the zombie-fied male behind the music and most of the lyrics of the project. Owner of the Xenomorph Productions Studio, Sebastian R. Komor has built quite an impressive reputation as a sound designer and songwriter of acts such as ICON OF COIL, BRUDERSCHAFT, MOONITOR, MONOFADER and MUSCLE AND HATE.
He has also been involved in productions for APOPTYGMA BERZERK, XP8, SPEKTRALIZED, DREAMER PROJECT, among others and has remixed bands like NINE INCH NAILS, JUNO REACTOR, ALPHAVILLE, VNV NATION, DE/VISION, MESH and many more.

With their two solid compilation appearances reaching astronomical dance club-mega-hit heights, "We Are The Ones" on Advanced Electronics vol. 4 (SPV), and " I Want It" on Cyberl@b 5 (Alfa Matrix), the duo instantly became one of the most in demand unsigned acts amongst the DJ community across the globe.

Musically, ZOMBIE GIRL can be described as over the top pumping and grooving electronic dancefloor music led by tremendously sexy and captivating female vocals of Renee Cooper-Komor. With a touch of humour, ripping old horror movie themes and elements of rock'n'roll attitude, ZOMBIE GIRL is the ultimate sonic experience from the underworld. And on stage, as they proved it on their Halloween debut show, ZOMBIE GIRL releases enough power and bloodfest gore to stick to the brains for years to come. Let ZOMBIE GIRL take a bite out of you and join the Zombie Nation now before the release of their debut EP Back From The Dead on Alfa Matrix.

More info on HMB is below:

From the WTII Web Site: "Comprised of Daniel Meier (Haujobb/Clear Vision/Architect) and Victoria Lloyd (Claire Voyant, Monochrome), HMB set out to create a new boundary for experimentation. Fusing elements of EBM, techno and trance with the elegant vocal styling of Victoria and the distinctive vocal styling of Daniel has made this album a beautifully crafted masterpiece. To complement an already solid combination, the pair also enlisted the help of Dennis Ostermann (ISC/Controlled Fusion) to add yet another twist to the equation."

SD6 Debut Release Party!!!

"Rising from the ashes of the Portland, Oregon electronic act, Omnibox, SD6 was officially born in 2002. After a seemingly never-ending search for additional personnel, singer/songwriter Brandon Jerwa reassigned manager Jessica Blackshear to the role of a full-fledged band member. Soon enough, everything naturally fell into place: a relocation to Seattle turned out to be a creative breath of fresh air, and the duo quickly found their missing link with the addition of highly skilled keyboardist Nicole Edmonds. Further along the way, the circle widened to include Fritter (former drummer for Backandtotheleft, Noxious Emotion and Omnibox). Jerwa’s sudden – and successful – breakthrough as a comic book writer forced the band to take their time during the recording process, so they simply rolled with the punches.

The extra time spent on the record paid off, allowing the band’s sound to grow and evolve naturally for their first release, rather than forcing the process through the crunch of deadlines.

With everything in place, Tom Shear of Assemblage 23 was recruited for his well-known production polish to bring out the best in the music created by the band. The result is the band’s debut, “Between Noise and Transmission,” a unique blend of emotionally intense lyrics, ear-catching melodies, and relentless dance beats with a fluid electronic backdrop. Indeed, the album is a still-life portrait of a band constantly in motion, but unwilling to be pushed in one defined direction.

The band continues to play regular shows, supporting such acts as Covenant, Melotron, Cesium 137 and Icon of Coil.

Not So Much an Event... Read Ahead...

Hi Everyone,

This is a venue that I have been working with for many years, and I would love it if you could offer any support necessary. Show up, e-mail the Mayor, e-mail the Dept of Excise and Licenses, whatever. The venue does a lot for the local art and music communities and they are being attacked by certain neighborhood groups because they cater to an alternative crowd. If you do not live or run a business in the "proper area" but you know someone who does, please pass this information along to them. Thanks for taking the time to read... Letter from the Owner of Cafe Netherworld, Eric Putz, to follow:

CAFE NETHERWORLD MAY LOSE IT'S LICENSE THIS Monday, February 26th at 6PM at the Department of Excise and License, 201 West Colfax Ave, Dept. 206 on the corner of 14th and Colfax we are having our hearing for our Cabaret license.

At this hearing we must present evidence demonstrating neighborhood wants and needs.

The neighborhood groups (CHUN, Unsinkables, and other officials), who presume to speak for you, are opposing our application, though they have accepted many in recent months for other applicants. If you live within the boundaries of 18th Ave., Ogden St., 8th Ave., and Broadway we would appreciate your support! Anyone that is a manager of a business within these boundaries, a resident, or a land owner is a valid witness, so please bring building managers, friends, or roommates that would like to support us as well!

You must have an ID that shows that you live within those borders, and if you have not signed our petition, please stop by the Cafe before Monday and do so!

Your support need only be by being present, and a showing of hands, but if you would like to speak directly to the assembly, please contact me, as there will need to be a short briefing with our lawyer before hand (this can be done by phone) on Monday afternoon.

If you plan on showing up, please be early, or on time. And you are more than welcome to come as you are. No need to NOT be yourself and an accepted member of this community.

Though I would appreciate it if everyone was well behaved, to allow us to continue to prove that we are one of the greatest collections of individuals.

The hearing will take place on the second floor, in the offices of Excise and Licensing. If you need a ride there - I will arrange one for you!

At the very least - you'll get to see me roasted by the neighborhood groups. That should count for something.

Thanks for your continued patronage, and support!

See you then!

Eric.

Dylan Scholinski

Opening Reception First Friday, April 6, 2007

Isadore Gallery
3542 Walnut Street
Denver, CO 80205
303.293.1950

Show Runs April 6 - April 28, 2007

Isadore Gallery is holding over their April art show, featuring the work of Dylan Scholinski, to May 24th.

"The decision was an easy one," says Michelle Marie, gallery owner. "We've received so many inquiries we thought we'd give everyone in Denver another chance to see this amazing show."

In a unique moment of timing, art lovers in Denver will have the chance to see a bigger spectrum of Scholinski's work, as he will also be showing at The Other Side Arts (1644 Platte Street in Denver) during the month of May. The Isadore Gallery exhibition features earlier work and The Other Side Arts more recent items; Scholinksi himself will be at the opening reception for The Other Side Arts show on May 4th.

Dylan Scholinski is a distinguished artist, author, and public speaker (The Last Time I Wore a Dress: A Memoir – Penguin/Putnam). Dylan has appeared on 20/20, Dateline and Today to discuss his experiences and has been featured in a variety of newspapers and magazines. His work not only portrays the anguish of his hospital years but also his ultimate triumph.

If it is true that art saves lives, as it has mine, then the truth must be shown; and my individual goal is to be as honest as I can be. - Dylan

This will be the first Denver exhibition for this renowned artist who has just relocated to Colorado from Washington, DC. Join us for an intimate exploration into identity, rebirth, and all that lies between.

The Secret Meeting

The Secret Meeting

Who is in the band? kaRIN and Statik from the band Collide and Dean Garcia, who was the instrumental side of the band Curve.

Where do they live now? kaRIN & Statik live in Los Angeles and Dean Garcia lives in London.

How did they meet and when did The Secret Meeting start? They met in 2006 while kaRIN was surfing around online and came across Dean Garcia's solo page on myspace. kaRIN wrote Dean a short note to see if he might like a guest vocal and it turned into a full project.

Where did the name The Secret Meeting come from? We all brainstormed and bounced back and forth a bunch of names and The Secret Meeting seemed to be the one that fit the project the most.

Do they have any previous releases before The Secret Meeting? Yes, Collide have several releases and Curve also has several releases--more info here: http://curve-online.co.uk/discography/official.php

How many CDs have The Secret Meeting released so far? This is their first.

What else have the members of The Secret Meeting done? Highly sought out in the music industry, both Statik and Garcia have helped to shape musical history and have lent their talents and skills to incredible visionary artists. Statik’s notables include such diverse artists as Tool, Prince, Skinny Puppy, and Leonard Cohen. Dean Garcia has worked with The Eurythmics, Mick Jagger, and Sinead O’Connor.

kaRIN, has done guest vocal work for cEvin Key's side project PlatEAU, as well contributing vocals to the remix of Frontline Assembly.

Re-Birth III

Wednesday, August 15, 2007 “Re-Birth III”

Why is it called “Re-Birth?” Very simply, this is an over-the-top celebration of DJ PharoahMoan’s Birthday. As with the first 2 “Re-Birth” Shows, we are making this a flashback to Egyptian times and making it representative of the Egyptian New Year. The Ancient Egyptian New Year is one of the most sacred festivals in the calendar, as it is the single event in the year in which the energy of the Sun God and Stellar Goddess combined was ritually drawn into the sacred statues of the temples, in effect, giving a “Rebirth” to the Pharaoh.

We take this so personally, we have simply moved the ceremony to my Birthday... this will be the third Re-Birth, and will be the best yet...

For only the second time ever in Colorado we present you with Projekt Records Recording Artist Android Lust (http://www.AndroidLust.com). From right here in Denver, we present you with a wide variety of performers from inside and outside the Colorado Underground Scene. Scheduled to appear with Android Lust are Obscission, Revolution State vs. Noizekatt, and DJ PharoahMoan. We will also be introducing Silver and Gold, a professional dance troupe performing a freeform interpretation of the Egyptian New Year’s Festival.

We have teamed up with Evil Poodle Productions to bring you this...

Due to popular demand, Cyanotic began work on a 2 disc deluxe edition of the now out-of-print debut, entitled ''Transhuman 2.0", in fall 2k6. The double CD set contains the original "Transhuman", remastered for optimal clarity, along with a bonus companion disc that fully deconstructs and reshapes the original songs into pure sonic molotov, featuring guest appearances from members of Front Line Assembly, 16 Volt and Rabbit Junk.

Amongst all the shows, promotion and recording, the group have completed production work and remixes for bands including Pigface, Chemlab, 16 Volt, Acumen Nation, Rabbit Junk, The Aggression, ManufraQture, Spit Static and many more.

mindFluxFuneral
In 1997 mindFluxFuneral complied many of their best tracks and put them together into their first full length release birthMark. The album was released by their good friend Jester of the eZine Sonic-Boom and Doppler Effect Records. The album featured chaotic ritual like tracks such as 'Hatred' and 'Infected', floor pounding tracks such as 'Dream it Dead' and mood driven spaces such as 'Melting Spirit'.

After nearly 10 years of producing, side projects and collaborations mindFluxFuneral is ready to unleash the torture tekk again! Teatro De Revalacion marks a return to their signature sound and a new future for the artistic vision that is mindFluxFuneral.

Goodbye, Mr. Wilson

Goodbye, Mr. Wilson

As a local promoter, spending all of my time and money trying to make the underground scene flourish, I have always looked up to Mr. Tony Wilson. Mr. Wilson was a great man that died this Friday. Sleep well, Mr. Wilson (February 20, 1950 - August 10, 2007). For those of you that know, feel free to read ahead. For those of you that don't know who this man is, read ahead. You missed out.

Tony Wilson grew up wanting to be a Nuclear Physicist, but after college in the 1970's, he came home to Manchester and worked for his local television station as a reporter. During the 1980's and 1990's, he was an anchor on Granada Reports, the local evening news program, for which he is best known by the mainstream. There is a lot more to this man than you could ever think to know.

During the 1980's, Tony Wilson hosted a weekly regional culture show called The Other Side of Midnight on Sunday evenings and is highly regarded as one of the United Kingdom's first experiments in late night television. This is not why I have always respected, or admired the man. He had another side that burns a hole through me. This was the man that I give all of the credit for establishing what we consider the Alternative Scene today.

In 1976, Wilson was hosting a show called So It Goes. In this capacity, he saw The Sex Pistols perform live at Manchester Lesser Free Trade Hall in a show that he described as "nothing short of an epiphany." In 1977, he booked them to play on the show in what some call the first television appearance of a British Punk Band. He went on to create Factory Records and The Hacienda Nightclub, which were both staples in the early stages of the Manchester Scene. Within a couple of months, the "Madchester" Scene was born.

He never made a lot of money from Factory Records or the Hacienda, despite the fact that their enormous popularity was an early sign of British Significance in the field of Music.

With Factory Records, he created a strong base for our culture. Not only in Punk and alternative, but also the Early Stages of what we all listen to every day, rather than Pop. The record label was the first to sign many acts that we look back on today. In 1978, Factory Records was created to give a voice to such bands as Joy Division, New Order, James, O.M.D. (Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark), Happy Mondays, The Fall as well as many lesser known acts.

The very first, and perhaps most well-known, Factory LP was Joy Division's “Unknown Pleasures,” which was released in June, 1979. Joy Division would make a notable appearance that would put them into everyone's memory, at the Leigh Rock Festival in August 1979.

In May 1980, Joy Division front man Ian Curtis committed suicide shortly before a planned tour of the United States. The following month saw Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart" reach the UK top twenty. Their second album Closer was released the following month. In late 1980, the remaining members of Joy Division decided to continue on as a band most of us have heard of - New Order.

In 1981, Factory Records, and members of the band New Order, decided to open a nightclub, and preparations were made to convert a Victorian textile factory near the center of Manchester. The Hacienda opened in May 1982. The Club was a huge success, but only in matters of attendance. They were praised for the layout and interior design, but they lost a lot of the initial money due to the low cover charges and at the bar, which was markedly cheaper than nearby pubs. Raising the prices at the bar didn't help much, if at all, because by the mid 80's, crowds were increasingly preferring ecstasy to alcohol.

Although the nightclub had a hard time breaking even, in 1982, New Order's "Blue Monday" became a hit on the International Charts, and by 1985, Factory Records saw the first release by Happy Mondays. New Order and Happy Mondays went on to be the most successful bands on the label, bankrolling a host of other projects.

By 1992, ironically, the label was in serious financial trouble due to the two bands that had been the most successful. The Happy Mondays (plagued with numerous Drug problems) were recording their troubled fourth album Yes Please in Barbados, and New Order was spending £400,000 a month, on recording their comeback album Republic.

London Records were interested in taking over the Factory, but the deal fell through when it was discovered that the band, rather than the label, owned New Order’s back catalogue. For Tony Wilson, it was always a matter of the music before the money, and giving the bands control of their songs became a prevalent feature in the early days of Factory Records. Factory Communications Ltd, formed in 1981, was the company that was formed due to the earlier Factory Records mistakes, lasted and continued the trend of shoving the Underground down everyone’s throats until they too declared bankruptcy in November of 1992. At this time, many of the former bands that had first been discovered and given a chance by Tony Wilson through Factory Records, including New Order, found a new home at London Records.

In 1994, Wilson attempted to revive Factory Records, in collaboration with London Records, as "Factory Too." The label was active until the late 1990s, as was "Factory Once", which organized reissues of the original Factory Records material. The current incarnation of Factory is F4 Records.

You have heard the story and you still don't think you know anything about Tony Wilson or Factory Records. Think again. Tony Wilson saw something in that club late in 1976, and continued to stick with the most talented musicians to ever influence our generation, no matter if he would lose money, they would leave the label, or he simply made bad business decisions. For him, it wasn't about the money... it was about talent that was festering on the shelves while Pop music controlled the world. With the resurgence of "Underground," "Punk," and "Alternative Music," we all have to look back to OUR forefather... Mr. Tony Wilson.

Wilson, 57, was diagnosed last year and underwent emergency surgery in January to remove a kidney. Chemotherapy failed and doctors recommended other treatments, but the National Health Service refused to fund the #3,500-a-month therapy.

Instead, members of the Happy Mondays as well as other acts he supported, pushed, and gave the world over the years set up a fund to help him pay the costs. When first diagnosed and given the enormous bill, Wilson said: "When they said I would have to pay 3,500 (pounds) for the drugs each month, I thought where am I going to find the money? I'm the one person in this industry who has famously never made any money.

"I used to say some people make money and some make history - which is very funny until you find you can't afford to keep yourself alive. I've never paid for private health care because I'm a Socialist. Now I find you can get tummy tucks and cosmetic surgery on the National Health Service, but not the drugs I need to stay alive. It is a scandal."

Rest in Peace Mr. Wilson

This Month, in addition to the monthly cash prizes and all of the other exposure, you can compete to get a spot at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival!
The Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival is a four-day, multi-stage camping festival held on a beautiful 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tennessee every June. Bonnaroo brings together some of the best performers in rock and roll, along with dozens of artists in complementary styles such as jazz, Americana, hip-hop, electronica, and just about any contemporary music you can think of.

In addition to dozens of epic performances, the festival's 100-acre entertainment village buzzes around the clock with attractions and activities including a classic arcade, on-site cinema, silent disco, comedy club, theater performers, a beer festival, and a music technology village.

For its peaceful vibe, near-flawless logistics, and unrivaled entertainment options, Rolling Stone magazine named this revolutionary entertainment experience one of the 50 moments that changed the history of rock and roll.

A New Review of the Album:

Glasswerk

It's Five years since Collide’s previous album Some Kind of Strange. In that five year period the band have released a double disc remix album, put together a live act, recorded a live performance on DVD and even did a side project with ‘Curve’s’ Dean Garcia aptly title ‘The Secret Meeting’. (Garcia also features as guest on this new album). The past two years plus has also seen them put together this new work. So laying around in the L.A. Sun is hardly what Collide are known for.

Two Headed Monster – Seems to be an extension of the Collide name. This being the coming together of the collective minds of its two members: kaRIN on Vocals & Lyrics, Statik on noise duties.

This 10 track album you’d half expect to burst into life to remind fans that they are indeed still alive and full of energy. That burst of energy is saved for the opening of the second track ‘Chaotic.’ What we get instead is a rather stripped back effort on Statik’s part in ‘Tongue Tied and Twisted.’ With song titles like these, Collide are certainly acting just as sinister as ever. Coming from a band that is brimming with inventiveness, ideas, and a deep love for their fans – one can almost imagine such a wonderful duo having far too much fun “playing evil” with childlike glee when writing song titles.

If their first album was an experiment to test the water, their second being a very Industrial Rock venture and their last album becoming much more soothing and ethereal – then this new album sees more of the dance vibe being brought to the fore in its opening numbers. Fans will be much more used to Statik creating noise through guitar and beats whilst taking influence from other cultures around the globe. Here he is much more the sound mixer and distorter. This tends to be a trend reserved for remixes themselves, but this time out Collide have decided to infuse as much interference as possible on their new babies.

kaRIN as ever hasn’t lost any of her charm or seduction behind the microphone. With such a beautiful voice laid down it sometimes sees a shame for the soundman to etch away at it for effect, but this is partly what Collide do so well although possibly to better effect in the past. It isn’t viable to say that Collide could produce work that isn’t thoughtful or well produced. What we have here certainly feels like a departure from before. There is something much more simplistic going on in terms of the music writing itself and more focus on the effect of the music and vocals. It isn’t comparable to any previous effort except maybe the level of experimentation on their very early material.

With so much chaotic mixing in the early half of the album it is hard to pinpoint anything that stands out making for the album coming off as a whole rather than a collection of different sounds. But then ‘Silently Creeping’ hits and Collide become so wonderfully burlesque!

There is usually a track on a Collide album that bumps along rather breezily and seems uncontrollably upbeat and chirpy compared to the songs that surround it. In this case that may well be ‘Head Spin,’ which makes for a welcome change in tone. They are after all trying not to let you settle too much. Changes of path are a must for any opus. And also in every said opus is bound to be something much grander where the sheer tone takes over and makes you stop and listen. That track comes immediately after in the shape of the title track ‘Two Headed Monster.’ This is a very distinctive Collide song and a good indicator to new ears of what kind of band Collide are.

Continuing the plodded drums and guitar is ‘Shifting.’ A jazzy and string laden orchestral affair that leads us towards the end of the album. So dance mix madness meets the Collide Burlesque show. A ‘Two-Headed Monster’ indeed. If it were a contest then undoubtedly the second half is bound to go down more of a storm with traditionalists. Collide can’t go wrong in the trip-hop ethereal world. Anything with too fast a dance beat is going to be more hit and miss with the some fans, or maybe these are the tunes that become more attention deserving once they have sunk in.

The album sadly has to end somewhere, and surprisingly it ends with the type of song that the fan base might have expected it to have opened on. Certainly a fitting end tune to send us away (annoyingly) wanting more. It's magical, it's pure Collide, its kaRIN enticing, it's Statik fusing these charms to teasing effect and once it has slowly drifted away from our reach you slam the “Previous Track” button in fury as you don’t want it to end. The song, ‘Utopia,’ also sees kaRIN doing something very new. An expert at seduction, cooing, wavering, and now apparently reaching as well. Her voice is here unsure in places and yet suddenly totally in control. It’s a magic track that very few people know how to pull off, and yet it’s one that Statik understands oh so well and he surrounds her with wonder which is the effect it seems to have on their audience as well. Wonder and amazement.

Are You An Actor? Prove it!!!

Meisner Boot Camp

Acting is Doing

• Living truthfully under an imaginary circumstance
• Get out of your head • Actors have opinions
• Don't think, Feel
• Don't do anything until something makes you do it
• Live in the moment

These are just a few of the catch phrases that summarize Meisner Technique. Sanford Meisner truly believed that the only character on stage was the actor themselves and by using your imagination you could bring realism to your work. There is no faking in Meisner Technique only real people with real emotions sending the energy back and forth. In Meisner Technique you get out of your head and into your gut. You don't plan, you don't think, you don't listen for your cues, you live truthfully and bring all that is unique in the individual to the theatrical experience. In essence, Meisner Technique is very improvisational and even with prepared material the work is very much a "wait and see" proposition. By combining the traditional technique with the Improv games and philosophy taught at The Bovine, this class will show both sides of the Improv coin in a challenging and high energy class.

We are looking at doing an entire National Tour now with approximately 40 some dates!!!

Feel free to e-mail PharoahMoan Productions Directly: pharoahmoan@yahoo.com

If you are not aware of who MC Frontalot is, he has received an incredible amount of Press in Newsweek, Wired Magazine, Time Out New York, The Lawrence Journal World, Guardian UK, Libération, Folha de S. Paulo, The Daily Tar Heel, XXL Magazine, and The Pitch.

He has also received radio attention on WNYC’s The Brian Lehrer Show, NPR’s Day To Day, CBC’s Definitely Not The Opera, and Pacifica’s Technology Bytes.

He has also appeared in Blog posts and other online articles all over the internet.

Wikipedia mentions the following about Nerdcore:

In 2000 he released the song “Nerdcore Hiphop”. The song became an immediate hit in the geek and nerd communities. The rap subgenre of nerdcore hip hop, which had been around though unnamed beforehand, embraced the title and has since been expanding rapidly.

Many consider MC Frontalot, if not the founder of nerdcore, certainly the man who shone the torch on it. The man himself however is quick to point out the many artists who came before him and those which he considers his peers, as illustrated on his information webpage.

MC Frontalot released his first studio album on August 27, 2005. Entitled Nerdcore Rising, the album contains six new songs, along with 10 remixed versions of past tracks. Some of the new tracks contain production by popular online musicians from Song Fight!, including indie rock and hip hop artist Doctor Popular.
